Field Day on Crop Diversification in Rice-Fallows Organised

ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Assam, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR–IARI, New Delhi, organized a Field Day on Crop Diversification in Rice Fallows at Koupatani Village, Dhemaji, Assam today. The programme aimed to promote mustard and lentil cultivation as profitable options in rice fallow areas.

Field Day on Crop Diversification in Rice-Fallows Organised

Improved varieties Mustard (PM-25) and Lentil (L-4717) were introduced to farmers, and detailed discussions were held on their agronomic practices and seed treatment methods. Seeds of both crops were distributed to farmers to encourage adoption. Discussions on the preparation and use of Beejamrit and Jeevamrit were also conducted to promote natural farming practices.

Following the event, the team of scientists visited farmers’ fields to provide on-site advisory support for potato and chilli crops.

A total of 66 farmers, including a significant number of women participants, attended the event.
