Dr. Mangi Lal Jat, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR), visited Deendayal Research Institute–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Majhgawan, Satna, Madhya Pradesh. This marked his first visit to the centre. He was accompanied by Dr. Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, and Dr. S.R.K. Singh, Director, ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jabalpur.
Dr. Jat along with the delegation toured the food processing unit and interacted with women entrepreneurs trained by the KVK.
Dr. Jat commended the impactful work of DRI-KVK, particularly in challenging conditions, and paid tribute to the vision of Nanaji Deshmukh. He assured farmers of timely access to improved seed varieties.
The Van Dhan Project initiatives led by DRI also received special appreciation.
The dignitaries also visited the community seed bank, seed processing unit, and nursery unit, and appreciated the efforts of the centre. Soybean and paddy seeds were distributed to selected farmers under the Cluster Frontline Demonstrations.
The women, members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), shared how KVK training in minor forest produce processing and packaging helped them establish small enterprises and generate sustainable income.
The event was attended by progressive farmers, SHG members, Van Dhan group women, and KVK staff, including Pusa scientists.
