DG, ICAR Visits ICAR-CRRI-CRURRS, Hazaribagh Station

Dr M. L. Jat, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR, Dr D. K. Yadav, Deputy Director General (Crop Science) ICAR and Dr. V. Chinnusamy, Joint Director Research, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, visited Central Rainfed Upland Rice Research Station, ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand today.

During the visit, Dr Jat interacted with the scientists, technical and administrative staff of the institute and reviewed the ongoing research, extension and institutional activities. He advised to have focused research on varietal selection of suitable rabi crops for sustainable management of rice fallow in the Eastern India. He also took an account of seed production of improved rice varieties and their dissemination to the farmers.

The dignitaries visited field trials, screenhouses and upcoming facilities at the station. They reviewed the state of residential complex, progress of infrastructure development and discussed the planned facilities, their effective utilization.

The visit provided an opportunity for useful interaction and valuable guidance for further strengthening the rice research, innovation, infrastructure and extension programmes, with a focus on enhancing rice productivity and rice fallow management for supporting the farming community and other stakeholders in the region.
