Odisha Agriculture Drought Mitigation Programme (OADMP) in Raruan block of Mayurbhanj District supported by the National Disaster Mitigation Fund and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Bhubaneswar, is aimed at understanding ground-level challenges and identifying location-specific strategies for drought mitigation and sustainable livelihoods.

As part of the programme, dhaincha based green manuring intervention , it's importance for soil fertility (a. Fixes atmospheric nitrogen, b. Builds up soil organic carbon and c. Reduces reliance on inorganic fertilizers) was demonstrated today in 9 villages (Tilakoti, Jamunalia, Panaposi, Dharmabeda, Kantasimila, Reteisahi, Mamidipani, Sirakoli, Papada) of Tilakuti gram panchayat of Raruan block. Seeds (2800 kg) allocated among the 97 farmers covering 140 acres.
The field demonstration and seed allocation was undertaken by ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland, Hyderabad Agriculture Scientists, in coordination with the respective Village committees.
