ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized a cleanliness drive and awareness programme at the ICAR-CRIDA adopted village, Gaddamalaiguda, Yacharam Mandal, Ranga Reddy District of Telangana as part of Swachhata Hi Seva-2026 today.
The programme was aimed at promoting cleanliness, sanitation, environmental responsibility and community participation towards maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
Initially, an awareness programme was conducted among the primary school students in the village to highlight the importance of cleanliness, personal hygiene, sanitation and maintenance of clean surroundings by the RAWE students from IARI Mega University Hyderabad Hub
UpSarpanch and Secretary of the village, also participated in the Swachhata programme. The students were sensitized about responsible waste disposal and the importance of individual and collective efforts in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
Awareness was also created regarding the adverse environmental impacts of single-use plastics. The students were encouraged to minimize the use of single-use plastic items and adopt environmentally sustainable alternatives.
The importance of responsible consumption and proper disposal of plastic waste was also emphasized. After that a cleanliness drive was organized in the village as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada activities.
The participants actively engaged in cleaning the identified areas and removing waste from the surroundings. The activity aimed to promote community participation and reinforce the message that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility.
