Annual Zonal Review Workshop of KVKs of Bihar and Jharkhand Organised in Ranchi

17–19 January 2026, Ranchi

The three-day Annual Zonal Review Workshop of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Bihar and Jharkhand was organised by ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-IV, Patna, from 17 to 19 January 2026 at ICAR–National Institute of Secondary Agriculture, Ranchi.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, in the presence of Vice-Chancellors of State Agricultural Universities, Dr. Anjani Kumar, Director, ICAR–ATARI, Patna, Directors of ICAR Institutes, Directors of Extension Education, Senior Scientists and Heads of 66 KVKs, along with eminent scientists.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Rajbir Singh highlighted the pivotal role of the 731 KVKs across the country in frontline agricultural extension and stressed the need for focused efforts to address emerging challenges in agriculture. He urged KVKs to accelerate the transfer of technologies to farmers and noted the Government of India’s increased emphasis on the KVK system for effective implementation of agricultural schemes. He also appreciated the role of KVKs in successfully organising the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan during the Kharif season.

Dr. M. M. Adhikary, Former Vice-Chancellor, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), Nadia, lauded the significant contributions of KVKs to national agricultural development.

Dr. S. C. Dubey, Vice-Chancellor, Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi, urged KVKs to focus on natural farming, smart villages and community radio stations.

Dr. Indrajeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU), Patna, highlighted the role of KVKs in supporting Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) through seed banks and Custom Hiring Centres.

Dr. Anjani Kumar, Director, ICAR–ATARI, Zone-IV, Patna, emphasised that KVKs should implement frontline extension programmes in a participatory mode to effectively demonstrate technologies. He called upon KVKs to adopt dynamic approaches in providing technology backstopping, strengthening forward and backward linkages in priority areas, and preparing clear roadmaps.

Dr. Abhijit Kar, Director, ICAR–NISA, Ranchi, stressed the inclusion of innovative and youth-oriented activities at the village level to strengthen market linkages.

On the occasion, more than 15 publications, including those from ICAR–ATARI, Patna, were released.

During the workshop, all 66 KVKs of Bihar and Jharkhand presented their scientific progress reports, followed by detailed discussions and reviews.
