The ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad, organised the Valedictory Programme of the 115ᵗʰ Foundation Course for Agricultural Research Service (FoCARS) today.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director General, ICRISAT and Former Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), praised the comprehensive structure of the programme and encouraged participants to contribute meaningfully to national priorities in agriculture, innovation, and sustainability. He urged the young scientists to uphold the dignity of their profession, remain relevant in their domains, and continuously unlearn, relearn, and learn. Emphasising adaptability, he advised them to explore new avenues and avoid restricting themselves to a single area of study throughout their careers.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor, Kaveri University and Former Vice Chancellor, PJTAU, described the FoCARS training as a crucial “transition phase” for young scientists. He encouraged the participants to work towards farmers’ welfare, foster collaborative research, pursue patents, and strengthen efforts in technology commercialisation.

In his presidential address, Dr. Gopal Lal, Director, ICAR-NAARM, commended the participants for their active engagement throughout the course. He urged them to adopt innovative, farmer-centric, and interdisciplinary approaches as they progress in their careers within the National Agricultural Research System.
Experts provided an overview of the 115ᵗʰ FoCARS programme, noting that it was conducted in three phases Phases I and III at ICAR-NAARM, and Phase II as Field Experience Training at 18 centres across India. The batch comprised 107 participants representing 35 disciplines and 22 states.
