Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR), visited ICAR- National Research Centre on Seed Spices, Ajmer here today. He spoke about seed spices research and development.
Dr. Pathak laid the foundation stone for the Seed Processing Unit and inaugurated a Seed Spices Selfie Point. The Seed Spices Processing unit boasts a one-ton-per-hour processing capacity, designed to address the planting material needs of seed spices, especially for the benefit of farmers.
The DG also released a book titled "Seed Spices Statistics and Maps of Rajasthan and Gujarat," which is a collaborative effort between ICAR-NRCSS, Ajmer, and ICAR-NBSS&LUP, Nagpur, spotlighting the prime seed spices cultivation regions in these two key seed spices producing states.
He also introduced technologies, such as cryo-grinding technologies and seed spices products, whose licensing is in the process.
Dr. Sudhakar Pandey, Assistant Director General (Horticulture Science), Dr. D K Yadav, Assistant Director General (Seed), Dr. Jagdish Rane, Director, ICAR-CIAH and Shri. G P Sharma, Joint Secretary, Finance, ICAR also accompanied the Director General.
Dr. Yadav underscored the imperative for high-quality planting materials.
Earlier, Dr. Vinay Bhardwaj, Director, ICAR-NRCSS, provided an overview of the centre’s accomplishments, research, and development initiatives.
