ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, organised a 10-day training on ‘Emerging tools and methodologies in conservation biology of fishes’ for research scholars and students from September 20th-29th 2023.
Dr. Bimal Prasana Mohanty, Assistant Director General, ICAR, was the Chief Guest of the event. Dr. Mohanty appreciated ICAR-NBFGR's efforts to implement the ICAR’s “Students’ Ready” programme.
Dr. U. K. Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, emphasised enhancing the skills and expertise in emerging tools and methodologies used in the field of conservation biology of fishes, which may help mitigate the aquatic biodiversity crisis.
The training covered multiple dimensions of conservation biology (both theory and practical hands-on). 32 lectures were delivered, including 11 guest lectures by renowned fisheries, wildlife, and environmental management researchers at national and international laboratories.
A total of 25 participants from various parts of the country attended the training.
