The ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad, celebrated World Egg Day 2026 on today, highlighting this year’s theme, “Protein that Powers and Protects”. To promote widespread public awareness, informative awareness posters illustrating the multifaceted nutritional and health benefits of eggs were prominently displayed at the institute’s egg sale counter, strategic locations across the campus, and shared across official social media handles.
Speaking on the occasion, the importance of dispelling common myths and misconceptions surrounding egg consumption was highlighted, affirming that eggs are safe, wholesome, and a vital source of daily nutrition for individuals across all age groups.
Addressing the gathering, the critical role of eggs in ensuring nutritional security was underscored. Eggs serve as a powerhouse of nutrition, providing highly bioavailable, high-quality protein along with essential vitamins and minerals crucial for muscle maintenance, cognitive function, and immune defense across all stages of life.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from scientists, technical and administrative staff, project workers, and students.
