A Workshop on ‘Relevance of standards and academia and industry collaboration in the standard development process’ was organized at ICAR-National Research Centre on Pig in technical collaboration with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), New Delhi today . The theme of relevance of standards, need for their harmonization and new avenues to be explored in livestock as well as meat sector with special reference to pig and pork sector in technical collaboration with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), New Delhi.
The aim of the workshop was to create a platform for stakeholders’ interaction for updating/harmonizing relevant national standards and to explore new areas in the livestock sector for standard development as per the current needs.
Dr. Vivek Kumar Gupta, Director, ICAR-NRCP has presided over the programme and Dr. S.B. Barbuddhe, Director, ICAR-National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad was the Chief Guest.
Smt. Sunita Rai, DGM, APEDA; Dr. Jesto George, Dy.Director, FSSAI and Shri. Debasish Mahalik, Scientist-B, BIS were also graced the occasion.
Research scholars, who are pursuing their Doctoral programme, and industry representatives were also participated in the workshop.
