Vice-President of India Inaugurates the Regional Research Station of ICAR-DGR

The Vice-President of India, Shri. Jagdeep Dhankhar, inaugurated the Regional Research Station, ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research, Bikaner today.

Shri. Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare; Shri. Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Law & Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture; Shri. Kailash Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) graced the occasion.

Senior officials from ICAR Headquarters, ICAR Institutes, State Agricultural Universities, and Bikaner District Administration also remained present.

In addition, more than 2000 farmers participated in the program.

The RRS will carter the need for seed requirements for Rajasthan State and various groundnut technologies suitable for arid cropping systems.

ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research, Junagadh, under the aegis of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. ICAR-DGR with three regional stations and more than 25 AICRP-G centers is working toward maximizing the groundnut area, production, and productivity in the Country over the last 4 decades.

The research of ICAR-DGR and AICRP-G has yielded an average of 10 million tonnes of groundnut production for the 4th consecutive year in the Country, in spite of the substantial reduction in groundnut area and unfavorable climatic conditions. Keeping in view, the importance of the groundnut crop in the State of Rajasthan and livelihood to the farmers, ICAR-DGR has established its Regional Research Station at Bikaner.
