ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora, organized two 5-day training programmes on “Improving the livelihoods of North East Hill region farmers through suitable technological interventions” for the scientists of KVKs of north-eastern states under ATARI Zone VI, Guwahati and ATARI Zone VII, Umiam, respectively.
The first training programme was organised from 22nd – 26th January 2024. The second training programme was organized from 29th January – 2nd February 2024.
During the inaugural session, Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director, ICAR-VPKAS, Almora, emphasised the important role of KVK scientists in disseminating new technologies for improving farmers' livelihoods in the NEH region.
Dr. Kadrivel, Director, ATARI Zone VII and Dr. Manoranjan Niyog, Director, Extension Education, AAU, Jorhat, urged the participating scientists to make utmost use of the opportunity, considering the technological needs of NEH farmers.
The training programs focused on hill agriculture, entrepreneurship, business incubation, and organic product certification. experts gave lectures on entrepreneurship and organic product certification.
A total of 35 participants participated in the first training programme and 18 participants participated in the second training programme.
