ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur, organized training on “Citrus Production technology” and Agri-input and acid lime sapling distribution programme for the Schedule tribal farmers in the Naxalite-infested Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra under the TSP Scheme today.
Dr. Dilip Ghosh, Director, ICAR-CCRI, emphasised the promotion of citrus in non-traditional areas and extended the benefits of Government Schemes to the Tribal farmers in the poorest of poor areas and accordingly, this programme was organised.
The CCRI Scientists, emphasised the importance of citrus cultivation and the modern horticultural practice being adopted and assured all technical help by the Institute. Staffs of Gram Panchayat were also present during the programme. Additionally, the ICAR-CCRI in Nagpur has started three frontline demonstrations at Italcheru on Acid lime, Napur mandarin, and Sweet orange.
A total of 300 farmers participated in this training programme and received Acid lime saplings agri-inputs from ICAR-CCRI.
