An institute-industry interface was organised at ICAR - National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata today.
The Chief Guest, Shri Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Textiles, urged the industry representatives to come forward for commercializing the developed innovative technologies and collaborate further for development of diversified value-added products.

Smt. Padmini Singla, Joint Secretary, Ministry of textiles, spoke about the importance of technology transfer from institute to industry for betterment of the society.
Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, highlighted the technologies developed at the institute and collaborations made with industries & other stakeholders for faster dissemination of innovative technologies and products.
Representatives from Ministry of Textiles, National Jute Board (NJB), Jute Corporation of India (JCI), Indian Jute Industries Research Association (IJIRA), Jute Mills & R&D organizations also graced the occasion.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on “Soft & Bulk jute and Jute/Jute-Acrylic yarn for knitted fabric” for commercialization of products & a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Jute acrylic blended yarn and diversified products there from” for future R&D work was signed between ICAR-NINFET & M/s Gloster Jute Mills, Kolkata in the presence of the minister.

Earlier, Jute Raw Material Bank (JRMB) was inaugurated by Shri the textile minister which is launched as a new initiative at ICAR-NINFET premises under the funding of National Jute Board (NJB).
The Minister and other dignitaries toured the exhibition and interacted with the artisans. He also lauded the outstanding work of ICAR-NINFET scientists in areas such as jute yarn softening for woollen garments, bamboo-jute-viscose-blended fabric, outreach programmes and launching of online platform for marketing of jute diversified products.
