Potential of Vegetable Export from Purvanchal region in Uttar Pradesh

ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi, in Association with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, organised an Agri-Export: Capacity Building cum Buyer-Seller Meet today in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. ICAR-IIVR Varanasi is actively involved in technology development and transfer for processing and value-addition of vegetable commodities, enabling export promotion for various stakeholders.

Potential of Vegetable Export from Purvanchal region in Uttar Pradesh

Smt. Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, highlighted the importance of increasing agricultural exports, stating that they can boost the nation's foreign exchange and significantly increase farmers' incomes, making agriculture the largest employment sector. The Minister also underscored the government's focus on infrastructure development across diverse agricultural sectors such as horticulture, spices, and marine products.

Shri. Ram Shakal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), and Shri. Abhishek Dev, Chairman, APEDA, was present in the programme.

Dr. Tusar Kanti Behra, Director, ICAR-IIVR, supported the mega event.

Shri. Abhishek Dev, Chairman, APEDA, acknowledged the government's commitment to enhancing export opportunities for FPOs and farmers by focusing on market linkages and augmenting export infrastructure.

ICAR-IIVR's exhibition stall attracted visitors with its display of IIVR technologies. Scientists engaged in one-to-one interactions with FPOs, exporters, farmers, and buyers, in the presence of the honorable minister.

More than 1500 farmers attended the programme.
