Indian council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi has been observing Swachhta Pakhwada (16-31st May, 2017 ) according to the instructions of Govt. of India.
On 16th May 2017, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra , Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) , Scientists/Officers & employees took the pledge for cleanliness. Shri Chhabilendra Roul, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) & other senior officers were present at this occasion. During this Swachhta Pakhwada various creative and cleanliness related programmes will be organised in Krishi Bhawan, Krishi Anusandhan Bhawan; National Agricultural Science Centre and Residential Complex. All the Institutes & Directors of ICAR will observe Swachhta Pakhwada accordingly. As part of the cleanliness drive different activities have been planned with the active participation of all Officers, staff members and families of ICAR employee.
On 19th May 2017 an workshop was organised under the Chairmanship of Dr.K Alagusundaram, DDG (Agril .Engg.), at Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan. The workshop has been attended by all the ADGs , Senior Officers and staff members at KAB . All the participants shared their perspective for making surroundings and buildings clean and green by adopting innovative measures.
ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-I, Ludhiana
ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana along with Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Zone-I organised various activities under Swachhta Pakhwara .
On 16th May 2017 , ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana has administered Swachhta Pledge to all officials and identified various activities to be conducted during this Pakhwara besides initiating cleanliness drive in the Institute premises.
KVKs of Himachal Pradesh organised several activities on first day of the Swachhta Pakhwara,
KVK Kullu has administered Swachhta pledge to KVK staff and 32 farmers & farm women and cleanliness drive was carried out in the premises of KVK. Awareness about Swachhta Abhiyan was also created amongst farmersand trained them about use of the bio-pesticides in agriculture. They were also educated about harmful and beneficial aspects of Parthenium weed and its utilisation for the preparation of Vermicompost.
KVK Sirmour involved 34 RAWE students in cleanliness drive and administered Swachhta Pledge to students as well as KVK staff. KVK Mandialso cleaned the campus and mobilised 28 community motivators for cleanliness.
KVK Bilaspur involved 27 local people for cleanliness of surrounding area near Panchayat Bhawan of village Sargal.
KVK Una also initiated cleanliness on its premises and KVK Kangra created awareness amongst school children.
KVKs of Punjab also conducted several activities on 16.05.2017.
KVK Fatehgarh Sahib organised an awareness camp on cleanliness in which 30 farmers participated.
KVK Amritsar administered the Swachhta oath to the staff and cleaned the premises of KVK.
An awareness programme for 33 students was organised by KVK Gurdaspur.
Awareness about importance of hygiene among women and adolescent girls was created at Aaganwaadi Centre of an adopted villageof KVK Ropar.
Awareness was created regarding sanitation & waste disposal into degradable &non-degradable form by KVK Mohali in which 25 farmers participated. KVK TaranTaran cleaned KVK administrative building and its surrounding.
KVK Bandipora of Jammu & Kashmir educated 18 farmers about Bio-waste management through composting and cleaned the surroundings of the KVK.
ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin
In this connection, various programmes have been envisaged at CIFT, Cochin covering office and public places. The fortnightly celebrations started with a pledge administered by Dr. C.N. Ravishankar, Director, ICAR-CIFT on 16th May 2017. He urged the staff to keep the office and lab premises neat and clean and also requested all staff to participate in the fortnight long celebrations to make Swacch Pakhwada a grand success.
ICAR-National Institute of Research on Jute & Allied Fibre Technology, Kolkata
All the staff members of ICAR-NIRJAFT took the Swachhta Pledge and formed Human chain on 16th May 2017. A number of programmes are scheduled to be organized during this period to emphasize the need for cleanliness and to make country clean and green.
ICAR- National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management
The Swachhata Pakhwada was inaugurated on 16th May 2017 by Mrs. Pornima Taware, Mayor, Baramati Municipal Council, presided over the function as chief guest and Dr. S.R. Singh, Ex- Director, IASBHU and Mrs. Nita Chavan, Member, Baramati Municipal Council inaugurated the function as guest of honour.
Director, ICAR-NIASM administered Swachhata oath to all the NIASM employees on 19th May 2017.
Activities conducted during Swachhata Pakhwada
·Painting/Sketching/Drawing competition was organised with the theme “Clean City, Green City” on 17-05-2017.
· Rangoli competition was organised with the theme “Swachh Bharat” on 18-05-2017.
· A Collage competition was organised for college students with the theme “Clean India” at ICAR- NIASM on 20-05-2017
·Elocution competition was organised with the theme “Is food waste minimization an integral part of Swachh Bharat” on 26-05-2017
·Clay modelling cum planting competition was organised with the theme “Green earth” at ICAR- NIASM on 27-05-2017.
· Tree planting event was organised on 30.05.17. The planting event was inaugurated by the Director by planting a sampling of Neem.. About 40 trees were planted by NIASM staffs
