The ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata organized the On-Field Fisher’s Sensitization Programme on “Adaptation Strategies for Wetland Fisheries in Changing Land Use and Enviro-climatic Condition” at Fatepur, Chand Wetland in Nadia District and Katiganga & Bandardaha Wetland, Murshidabad District, West Bengal from 4th to 5th May, 2022. The Programme was organized under the NICRA Project.
Around 8 CIFRI HDPE Pen (0.1 Ha each) were installed in 4 Wetlands of Nadia and Murshidabad Districts. The On-Field Demonstration Programme on Climate Smart Wetland Fisheries will be executed in a participatory mode and aims to enhance the adaptive capacity of the fishers in the context of changing climate and revive the declining small indigenous fish species in the floodplain wetlands.
Altogether, 186 Kgs Labeo bata and Puntius sarana seeds were stocked in 8 Pens and 13 Tonnes of CIFRI CageGrow Feed was distributed during the programme.
A total of 100 Fishers, NICRA Project Staff Members and Officials of the Department of Fisheries, Government of West Bengal participated in the programme.
