On the initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India ICAR Headquarter, the ICAR institutes located in different parts of the country organized ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan’ on the occasion of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’, the 2nd October, 2016. Employees were administered ‘Swachchta Shapath’ by the heads of the Institutes.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research Headquarters celebrated ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ by launching a cleanliness drive covering different spots in and around the Krishi Bhawan. Senior officials and staff of ICAR headquarters and DARE joined hands in cleanliness drive. Shri Chhabilendra Roul, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) administered the ‘Swachhta Shapath’ to the senior officials and staff of ICAR headquarters and DARE.
ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR was the Chief Guest of the event. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohapatra lauded the mission started by our Hon’ble Prime Minister two years back and emphasized on the need of cleanliness at all levels for healthy mind and body leading to good health, higher work efficiency and for overall national development. He also stressed on both internal as well as external cleanliness of everyone and its relevance. He urged that this campaign should not remain just symbolic, rather be integrated in every individual’s day-to-day life.
Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director, ICAR-NRRI urged to keep their surroundings clean.
At, KVK Santhapur, Cuttack Smt Sarmistha Pati, Panchayat Samiti Sadasya emphasized to build the septic toilet in every household to keep the villages neat and clean
ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubneshwar
Dr. P. Jayasankar, Director, ICAR-CIFA stressed upon the importance of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and recalled the impact of the program on perceptible change in people’s attitude to achieve cleanliness. A special plantation drive was also initiated as a part of the program.
ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture
Dr Ch Srinivasa Rao, Director, CRIDA, explained the importance of the cleanliness drive. Fortnight long Swacchta Pakhwada (2nd - 16th October, 2016 ) is being organized.
ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun
Dr. Lakhan Singh, Incharge Director and Head (HRD&SS) said it is the responsibility of everyone to make the success of cleanliness drive. Oath was taken by about 100 participants to join the hands for making surroundings clean, changing their attitude and behaviour.
ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore
‘Swachchta Shapath’ was administered in the institute by the Director. More than 120 members of the CIFRI family took part in the ceremony for voluntary work.
