Virtual Training Programme on “Recent Advances in Organic Farming Research” concludes at ICAR-NAARM

The five-day Virtual Training Programme on Recent Advances in Organic Farming Research” organized by the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad from 22nd to 26th February, 2022 concluded today.

Padmashree Awardee for Organic Farming, Shri Yadlapalli Venkateswa Rao, Founder - Rhythunastam (Farmers’ Friend), Pasunestam (Cattles’ Friend) and Prakruti Nestham (Nature’s Friend) Magazines marked his presence as the Chief Guest during the valedictory ceremony. Delivering his address, he highlighted the farmers’ and scientists’ role in the nation building and sensitized them towards the organic production system higher profitability and sustainability. The critical role of training and sensitization on the organic production of food and certification process was emphasized by Shri Rao.

Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad underlined the harmful effects of pesticides and its negative effects on the human health. Dr. Rao also highlighted the soil health management with organic nutrient resources towards the environmental sustainability and improving the nutrient use efficiency.

The main objective of the programme was to apprise the participants about the recent innovative approaches & strategies followed in the organic production system and the different organic production technologies towards higher profitability and sustainable production.

A total of 48 Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, Subject Matter Specialists, Scientists of State Agricultural Universities, ICAR Institutes and Krishi Vigyan Kendras from the various States across the country participated in the programme.
