The ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, Karnataka in collaboration with the Society for Promotion of Horticulture, Bengaluru organized the Virtual Workshop on “Science Communication” today.


Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. Venkatta Kumar R., Head, Social Sciences & Training, ICAR-IIHR, highlighted the importance of science communication. Dr. Kumar stressed that the effectiveness of the communication is only possible when the audience responds to the messages.

Dr. M.V. Dhananjaya, Secretary, Society for Promotion of Horticulture, Bengaluru underlined the Society’s various activities that are being undertaken for science communication and promotion of horticulture among the stakeholders by liaisoning with the various national and international horticultural societies.
In his address, Dr. B.N.S. Murthy, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru urged the Scientists to keep the audience and farmers in mind while making any science communication aids and using the channels.
The Workshop aimed at discussing the various aspects of effective science writing and research communication was organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.
The students, scientists and faculty Members of the National Agricultural Research System participated in the Workshop.
