Programme on “Capacity Building of Extension Experts on Methodological Initiatives for Accelerating Technology Application by KVK” was organised at ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar, Odisha during November 22-24, 2014. The programme was jointly organised by ICAR-Zonal Project Directorate, Zone VII, ICAR, Jabalpur and KVK-Khordha.
Dr (Mrs) Neelam Grewal, Director, ICAR- Directorate of Research for Women in Agriculture inaugurated the and emphasized on the needs of such programme for enhancing the knowledge and perception of the extension experts in various aspects of the extension methodology which could lead to the new pathway for the technology spread to the various sections of the farming community.
Dr P. Jayasankar, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar in his presidential address urged the extension fraternity to have sound extension methodology suited to the fast dissemination of the freshwater aquaculture technology in the region for uplifting the socio-economic condition of the fish growers.
Dr. Anupam Mishra, Zonal Project Director, ICAR-ZPD, Zone VII initiated this programme for the capacity building of the extension PC/SMS working in the KVKs under Zone VII states. As along with sound technology, appropriate methodology should also be applied by the extension experts so that farming community can reap the windfall profit of the newly developed technologies having more potential.
Dr. S.R.K.Singh, Sr. Scientist (Ag Extension), ICAR-ZPD, Zone VII during welcome address expressed that such programme gives unique opportunity to the KVK experts for interacting, discussing and sharing on the methodological interventions for fastening the acceptability of the cutting-edge technology in the area of agriculture and allied sectors. This can lead to the accelerated rate of the agricultural growth and prosperity in the region.
On the occasion, ATMA and State Department. Officials were honoured for their contribution in Khorda district. Dr. S.R.K.Singh, Senior Scientist was recognized as ‘Best Extension Scientist’ for his advisory role to the KVK Khorda.
The main focus of the programme was to enhance the capacity of the extension experts to intensify the extension methodology in their activity for fastening the technology application and its dissemination to the farming community for reaping the benefits of the suitable technology evolved in the NARS system.
Programme Coordinators and Subject Matter Specialists of Extension discipline of KVKs under Zone VII from the states of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh participated in the event.
