ICAR Foundation Day was observed at Central Soil & Water Conservation Research & Training Institute, Kaulagarh Road, Dehradun (Uttarakhand) on 16th July, 2014. Students and teachers from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Indian Military Academy, three officers OPTO Electronics Factory (OLF) Dehradun and Heads of the Division & different sections of the Institute participated in the programme.
Dr. O.P. Chaturvedi, I/c Director of the Institute highlighted the importance of Natural Resource Management, Water Harvesting, Water Use Efficiency and Agriculture Education for achieving sustainability in agriculture sector and meeting the growing food demand of teeming population of this country.
Dr Charan Singh, Dr P.R. Ojasvi and Dr. N.K. Sharma, Heads of Division of the Institute, spoke on various avenues of Agriculture Education and numerous job opportunities that are available in this country and abroad. On this occasion, participants were exposed to the various land degradation problems and their mitigation measures through a documentary film show and a visit to the museum of the institute.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. Charan Singh, Head, HRD&SS Division of the Institute and coordinated by Dr. D.V. Singh, Principal Scientist (Soils). Programme concluded with vote of thanks by the coordinator.
