On the occasion of the 86th Foundation Day of the ICAR a seminar on “Agricultural Science was organized at the Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI), Karnal, under the chairmanship of the Dr. D.K. Sharma, Director, CSSRI. Dr.Sharma, addressed the participants and informed them about the importance of July 16, being the foundation day of ICAR, and explained the vivid agricultural research and development activities which are being carried out under the auspices of the ICAR.
Dr. R.S.Tripathi, Head, Division of Technology Evaluation and Transfer, stressed on the need to involve students who would be future farmers and scientists, and therefore should be passed on the knowledge of good agricultural practices.
Many progressive farmers like Mr.Mahabir Singh, Mr.Surjit Singh, Mr.IshwarDayal and Mr. Harpreet Singh shared their farming experiences and stressed on participatory research as well as to include their on-farm evolved conservation practices in the institute advisory. Three schools from the area participated in an agricultural quiz competition. Among the participating students, top 20 who exceled in the quiz competition were given prizes.
The seminar was attended by more than 270 students of schools and farmers from adjoining areas as well as the scientific and technical staff of the institute.
