Annual Review Workshop of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs) Zone-VI, Jodhpur was organized at Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University (SDAU), Dantiwada, Gujarat from 24th to 26th May, 2014.
Dr. R.M. Chauhan, Director (Research), SDAU inaugurated the workshop as Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, Dr. Chauhan expressed his satisfaction over lead role being played by the KVKs and the linkage between the KVKs and the line departments for meeting the technical needs of the farmers. He appreciated the work of KVKs in the dissemination of new agricultural technologies and empowerment of the small and marginal farmers.
In his Presidential address, Dr. Y.V. Singh, Zonal Project Director, Zone-VI, Jodhpur briefed the status of Zone-VI, and informed that the achievements of each KVK for the year and action plan would be discussed to achieve the targets as envisaged by Planning Commission, Government of India. Dr. P.P. Rohilla, Principal Scientist (LPM) presented the salient achievements of Zone-VI for the year 2013-14 and targets for the year 2014-15. He also highlighted the new initiatives proposed for the strengthening of KVK system.
Dignitaries also released the publication ‘KVK Banswara in the Service of Farmers 2000-2013’ on the occasion.
Earlier, Dr. K.A. Thakkar, Director, Extension Education, SDAU welcomed the participants.
Directors of Extension from SAUs, scientists from ZPD, Zone-VI, professors from Directorate of Extension, officials from Department of Agriculture and programme coordinators of 70 KVKs of Zone-VI comprising of Rajasthan and Gujarat participated in the workshop and presented the annual progress report for the year 2013-14.
