Dr. K.D. Kokate, DDG (Agriculture Extension), ICAR and Dr. Y.V. Singh, Zonal Project Director, ICAR, Zone-VI jointly visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra, RARDS, Mundra – Kutch (Gujrat). They visited the Tissue Culture Laboratory, Green house and Net house units where the plants of the local elite varieties of Datepalm are produced and hardened. Dr. Kokate appreciated the work done by the laboratory for production and preservation of germplasm of local elite varieties of Datepalm in the benefits of date growers. He also interacted with the farmers of Kutch Date Growers Association promoted by KVK and other progressive farmers of Mundra & Mandvi talukas to know their views about KVK roles’ and their suggestions/opinions for Datepalm development of elite varieties in their area. He visualize the KVK, Mundra as a “Centre of Excellence for Datepalm” and ensure to the farmers to give all types of support from ICAR to the KVK from making excellence centre for Datepalm Development by the best extension work.
Dr. Kokate released the pocket dairy on “Different farmers benefited schemes of District Agriculture & allied Department” in Gujarati and “RARDS – KVK half yearly Newsletter” published by KVK for benefits of farmers. He appreciated these types of publications for better visibilities of KVK. He also felicitated with the “Kutchi Shawl” to three best progressive farmers of Datepalm and Banana.
