The two-day Consultative Workshop on “Academia-Industry-Government Linkages for Quality Agricultural Education” organized by the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad in collaboration with Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana concluded today. The Workshop was organized as a part of the World Bank funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) Component - 2A from 28th to 29th January, 2020.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Parvinder Kaushal, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan emphasized on the need for Academia-Industry-Government linkages for ensuring the quality education and economic development through skill up-gradation and employment generation. He urged the industrialists and academicians to come forward for greater collaboration to have a bright future for the nation.
Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana emphasized on need for creating the awareness among the masses by apprising them of the success stories of the people. He urged the participants for developing a working model to strengthen the linkages with the industry, especially, in the States like Punjab and Haryana.
Dr. S. Senthil Vinayagam, Co-Principal Investigator, ICAR-NAARM highlighted the different initiatives taken up in the Project, viz., global best practices for curriculum development, assisting agricultural universities in strengthening their linkages with the industry and strengthening the dialogue with the State Governments for catalyzing their participation, etc.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. G.K. Sangha, Dean, Post Graduate Studies, Punjab Agricultural University stressed that the Universities and industry can together promote the innovation that can have far reaching impacts.
A total of 70 participants representing Agricultural Universities, Industry and Government hailing from the States of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir participated in the workshop.
