The CSISA-CIMMYT and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata jointly organized a Workshop-cum-Training on Production Practices Survey (PPS) for the Krishi Vigyan Kendras of West Bengal at ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata 12th to 13th March, 2019.
Dr. Arindam Samaddar, IRRI, New Delhi briefed about the features of the two-day programme and usefulness of PPS.
Dr. S.S. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata spoke about the CSISA project and its future aspects. He also underlined about the initiation of many CGIAR organization programmes in the KVKs. He urged for incorporating the PPS in the KVKs in coming days. The Director also highlighted that the particular data collection and its analysis would be helpful for the farmers.
The survey methodology, data collection and data analysis, etc., were discussed during the meeting.
The occasion also held a hand-on-training of the KVK officials for collecting the data from farmers by the household survey using mobile application named Open Data Kit (ODK).
