Shri Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated 22nd Sarson Vigyan Mela organized by ICAR-Directorate of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur, Rajasthan here today.
Shri Kundariya, in his inaugural address, elaborated on the various Government schemes for farmers including the Crop Insurance Scheme, Soil Health Card Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) and National Agriculture Market or “e-Mandi”. He spoke about the role of Farmer’s Fairs and said that these are important for the transfer of technology to farmers. He urged all stakeholders to take the benefit of this institute in producing better output from Rapeseed-mustard crop. He also visited the experimental farm of ICAR-DRMR.
Shri. Bahadur Singh Koli, Member of Parliament graced the occasion. He urged the scientists for developing technology for low input agriculture that would benefit the farming society.
Progressive and Innovative farmers were felicitated on the occasion and publications were released by dignitaries.
More than 5000 farmers from Rajasthan and nearby states participated in “Sarson Vigyan Mela” (18-20 February, 2016). Farmers also participated in Kisan Goshthis and discussed various issues related to Rapeseed-mustard cultivation.
Earlier, Dr. Dhiraj Singh, Director, ICAR-DRMR welcomed the dignitaries and briefed on recent achievements and activities of the institute.
