The Mountain Livestock Research Institute, Manasbal, SKUAST- Kashmir in collaboration with the Indo-Global Social Service Society, Kashmir organized the a series of two-days Capacity Building Training Programme for the farmers on “Nutrition and Housing Management of dairy cattle” from 8th July, 2019.
Prof. J.D. Parrah, Chief Scientist and Head, MLRI emphasized on the scientific housing and nutrition management’s importance for the profitable dairy farming.
During the period of the programme, the farmers were imparted the knowledge about the various scientific housing and nutrition of dairy cattle. It included the planning requirements of cattle sheds, housing cattle for higher productivity and better welfare, feeding management for maximizing milk production, etc.
The programme also held exposure visits to the feed plant, silage making unit and various types of scientifically constructed cattle sheds.
A total of 150 farmers from the Districts Baramulla and Bandipore, in six batches of 25 farmers each participated in the training programme.
