The training programme on “Linking geospatial technologies and agricultural system models to assess impact of climate change on natural resource management” sponsored by National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) and ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA) Hyderabad was organized at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Sciences, Bhopal from 24th October to 2nd November 2018.
Dr. Anil Kumar Singh, Former VC RVSKVV, Gwalior and Ex DDG (NRM) was the chief guest of the inaugural function and Prof. (Dr.) Bhagwan Singh Chaudhary, Chair, Geophysics Department, KUK, Kurukshetra Haryana as the Chief Guest in the valedictory function.
Dr. Ashok K. Patra, Director, ICAR-IISS, Bhopal, Dr. Rabi N. Sahoo and other dignitaries also graced the occasions..
The dignitaries emphasized on the importance of modelling and geospatial technologies in natural resource management and climate change adaptation and mitigation studies in agriculture and urged the trainees to utilize the experience and learning gained from the training programme for their future research endeavours.
The participants from various ICAR Institutes, SAUs and KVKs participated in the training programme. The trainees were also provided with an opportunity to work with a number of crop simulation and carbon models including APSIM, DNDC and FSR models etc. that are helpful to address the adaptive and migration measures for the farming community in the context of climate change.
