Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Rights Authority and ICAR- Technology Application Research Institute, Jabalpur organized a two-day “National Seminar on Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Right” during 26-27 February 2018 at KVK Satna, Deendayal Research Institute, Chirakoot. The major focus area for deliberations was Protection and Conservation of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Rights.
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), in his inaugural address appreciated the efforts of farmers in conservation biodiversity and stated that highest number of varieties registered under PPV&FRA are for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Dr Mohapatra also inaugurated an exhibition laid out on this occasion by KVKs of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, and Jharkhand.
Shri Ganesh Singh Member of Parliament, Dr. K. V. Prabhu, Chairperson, PPV&FRA, , Dr. R. C. Agrawal, Registrar General PPV&FRA, Dr. Amupam Mishra, Director IICAR-ATARI Jabalpur, Shri Virendrajit Singh, Chairman, DRI, Dr. Naresh Chandra Gautam, Vice Chancellor , MGCGV, Chitrakoot , Dr. S.P. Shukla, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Jabalpur were also present on this occasion.
On this occasion eleven progressive farmers including two women of Satna district were awarded.
