Women Friendly Technologies for Agriculture Production and Processing Operations

cia-01-18122017.jpgA Model Training Course (MTC) on “Women Friendly Technologies for Agriculture Production and Processing Operations” was inaugurated at ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal on December 15, 2017.  The Course is sponsored by Department of Agriculture and Co-operation & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.

Dr. K. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CIAE, Bhopal in his inaugural address, he  said  about 39% women are working in agriculture and the existing machines are not very much suitable for women workers. Considering drudgery involved in operation of these machines by women workers, CIAE, Bhopal through AICRP on Ergonomics and Safety in Agriculture took a lead role and modified existing machinery and also developed new machinery that could be easily operated by women workers. He urged the participants to propagate the CIAE developed women friendly machines and technologies in their respective States.

Eighteen Extension Officers, including six women officers and representing 11 States including Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh  & West Bengal are attending this course. 

Prof. Gajendra Singh, Chairman & Former DDG (Engg.), ICAR and members of CIAE QRT were interacted with participants on the issue of agricultural mechanization.
