One-day Kisan Mela and Scientists–Farmers interaction meet was organised by ICAR- Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow at Manpur Village, Sitapur today.
Dr. J.S. Sandhu, DDG (Crop Science), in his inaugural address appreciated the efforts of IISR in enhancing farmers’ income through adoption of seed cane production and intercropping of pulses, vegetables and cereals with sugarcane. He distributed soil health cards to 10 farmers and awarded Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Antyoday Kirishi Puraskar to one marginal farmer. Two publications were also released by Dr Sandhu.
Dr A. D. Pathak, Director, ICAR-IISR briefed about the recent activities and achievements of the Institute.
Senior officials from ICAR Headquarters and State Gocernment attended the programme.
More than 650 farmers participated in the Mela.
