“Innovative approaches are needed in agricultural research to achieve the goal of doubling farmers’ income by 2022 through out of the box solutions, said Dr. TrilochanMohapatra , Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) while addressing ICAR Trainee Scientists undergoing the 106th Foundation Course for Agricultural Research Service (FOCARS) at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad today. He called upon the young scientists to focus on giving their best for the benefit of stakeholders and to build a system that fulfils the food and nutritional needs. He also shared the concept of the ICAR to establish a ‘Discovery Centre’ where new innovative ideas could be discussed and new technologies developed for the farmers.
Dr Ch. Srinivas Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM gave an introduction to the FOCARS 106 batch. The batch comprises of 61 trainees from 28 disciplines in the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) from across India.
