Natural farming is the need of the hour for Technological Empowerment

A two-day workshop on Natural Farming was organised by ICAR- Shri Siddhagiri Krishi Vigyan Kendra, kaneri, Kolhapur, Maharashtra on 26th and 27th October, 2023.

The imbalanced use of chemical fertilizers negatively impacts soil productivity and physical-chemical properties. To address this, efforts have been made to promote natural farming, leading to increased livelihoods and production. A two-day workshop was organised to raise awareness and clarify myths about natural farming, highlighting its benefits and potential for sustainable livelihoods.

Shri. P.P. Adrushya Kadsiddheshwar Swamiji, Chairman, Siddhagiri Krishi Vigyan Kendra, accentuated that the present situation has witnessed the impact of the changes in the environment and the difficulties in the farming systems and the rising cost of cultivation shown imbalances, so there is a need to turn to practice the natural farming for sustainable development and for remunerative agriculture.

Shri. Basavraj Birajdar, Joint Director, Agriculture, Kolhapur Division, detailed the scheme of Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh for Natural farming. He also urged the farmers to practice group farming for more remuneration and benefits.

Shri. Arun Bhingardive, District Superintendent Agriculture Officer, Kolhapur, stressed group farming and various schemes to reach unreached farmers and various efforts to talk to promote the farmer producer organisation for better marketing and branding of farm produce.

In the introductory remarks Dr. Ravindra Singh, Head, KVK, Kaneri talked about the purpose of the program and outlined the different activities done by KVK.

A series of lecture and query was resolved by different subject experts on different topics through Natural farming amendments and inputs followed by a field visit to see the actual implementation of Natural farming practices and demonstration field.

More than 700 farmers from Maharashtra and Karnataka participated enthusiastically.
