The ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres, Barrackpore, Kolkata organized the two-day Training Programme for Master Trainers on “Improved Production Technologies of Jute for Enhancing Productivity and Quality” under the Jute-ICARE Project from 11th to 12th March, 2021.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. A.K. Jolly, Managing Director, Jute Corporation of India urged the participants to learn practical things from the resource persons to disseminate the same to the farmers while working in the field. He also emphasized on the significance of Jute-ICARE Programme in promoting the improved jute production practices amongst the farmers to scale-up the production, productivity and quality of jute farmers with better industrial values.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-CRIJAF, Barrackpore, Kolkata outlined the quality jute production techniques to bridge the yield gaps and break yield barriers. He underlined the transfer and adoption of improved jute production technologies developed by the Institute for quantity and quality enhancement of the jute fibre for its diversified uses.
To apprise about the multiple benefits of In-Situ retting pond based integrated farming system, the trainees were provided with the on-farm demonstrations at the In-Situ jute-retting tank and eco-farming site.
A total of 79 Block Supervisors and Master Trainers working in the Project participated in the training programmes from major jute growing Districts of West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Odisha.
