ICAR- National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, initiates a one-day awareness-cum-input distribution programme under “Mission NavShakti: Farm to Market” of SCSP Project for women belonging to Scheduled Castes community was organised at village Dhankutti, Safdargang, Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh today.
The programme was specially targeted to develop entrepreneurship among women of the SC community for livelihood empowerment by upscaling the ability to make them self-sufficient by entering the market for selling farm produce.
Dr U K Sarkar, emphasised small-scale fisheries entrepreneurship, especially with ornamental fish breeding and marketing for livelihood and increasing income.
Shri. R S Bisht Deputy Director, Ayodhya Mandal from the Department of Fisheries UP talked about various schemes of the fisheries department for the benefit of farmers.
Various inputs were distributed like a fish seed, icebox, and large outdoor umbrella and weighing machine to potential farmers.
Around 124 participants, the majority of women from four villages of gram panchayat Dhankutti participated in the programme.
