The valedictory function of the five-day training programme on Bamboo Nursery, Plantation, and Value Addition (February 17–21, 2025) was organised today at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun.
Dr J.M.S. Tomar, Acting Director, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Additionally, scientists from the Forest Research Institute (FRI) conducted practical sessions on bamboo preservation and seasoning, where participants learned about bamboo treatment and maintenance. Master trainers from the Uttarakhand Bamboo & Fibre Development Board delivered specialized training on tool handling, cross-cutting, and the design and development of bamboo products. Under their guidance, participants crafted planters, flower vases, mobile stands, chairs, and other utility items. Furthermore, hands-on training in durable furniture-making using black bamboo was conducted at FRI, Dehradun.
The training programme saw the participation of 16 trainees from seven states, who gained hands-on experience in various aspects of bamboo cultivation and processing.
