Dr Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) inaugurated the Video Conferencing Hall and laid the Foundation Stone for the RKVY-funded Farmers' Hostel and Protected Foundation Block for Transgenic Citrus Plants during his visit to the ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur today. Dr Pathak emphasized the importance of these developments and also lauded the efforts of ICAR-CCRI in pushing the boundaries of citrus research, technology dissemination, and infrastructure development, which will directly benefit the farmers across the country.
The DG visited the institute’s nursery, which specializes in micro-budded citrus planting material, a flagship technology of ICAR-CCRI. He also toured the research fields of ICAR-CCRI, with a particular focus on the sensor-based micro-irrigation system. Following that, he explored the greenhouses displaying exotic citrus varieties.
Dr Dilip Ghosh, Director, ICAR-CCRI, marked the event as a milestone in enhancing infrastructure and advancing research in the citrus sector.
The event highlighted ICAR-CCRI's dedication to advancing the citrus sector by offering essential infrastructure and research facilities to support both researchers and farmers.
