Inauguration of Administrative-cum-Academic Buildings at CAU Campuses in Nagaland and Mizoram

The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurated the Administrative-cum-Academic Block at the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie, Nagaland, under the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, Manipur today.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland, Shri La Ganesan, and the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shri Metsubo Jamir.

As part of the celebrations, a Farmers’ Fair was organized, showcasing the region's agricultural achievements and innovations. Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Governor commended the contributions of CAU and the Veterinary College at Jalukie in advancing livestock management and agricultural development in Nagaland.

 During his interaction with farmers and students, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan underscored the critical role of academic institutions in collaborating with rural communities to drive holistic development. He addressed the challenges faced during the recent Rabi season and emphasized agriculture’s pivotal role in positioning India as a leading global economy. The Minister spoke about the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign launched to educate and support farmers, including those in the Northeast, on modern agricultural technologies, climate-resilient seed varieties, and improved soil health.

On the same occasion, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan also virtually inaugurated the Administrative-cum- Academic Block and Transit Hostel of the College of Horticulture, Thenzawl, Mizoram. 

The event was graced online by the Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram, Gen (Dr.) V.K. Singh.

In his welcome address, Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, CAU highlighted Shri Chouhan’s transformative impact on agriculture, especially citing the 20% agricultural growth achieved in Madhya Pradesh under his leadership

An exhibition on horticultural advancements, featuring participation from over 1,500 farmers and KVKs, was also organized.
