ICAR-NRCG celebrates its 29th Institute Foundation Day

ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune, celebrated its 29th Foundation Day today, marking nearly three decades of excellence in grape research and development.

The Chief Guest, Dr K.V. Prasad, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune, emphasized the institute’s significant role in connecting with farmers and the grape industry. He lauded its efforts in enhancing grape exports and contributing to foreign exchange earnings while reaffirming the commitment to collaborative efforts under the ONE ICAR system. Dr Prasad also launched the official website of the institute.

Dr Kaushik Banerjee, Director, ICAR-NRCG, extended a warm welcome to all participants and guests, reflecting on the institute's journey and recognizing the contributions of former directors in establishing its strong foundation. 

Dr Anil Khar, Head, Regional Station, ICAR-IARI, Pune, highlighted key milestones achieved over the years, especially, the collaborative research on garlic ecotypes.

The home page of this new website was inaugurated by Dr Himanshu Pathak Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR), on 26th December, 2024.

The Foundation Day Lecture, titled ‘Linking Fruit Chemistry to Biology through OMICS’, was delivered during the programme.

On this occasion, the institute signed a Memorandum of Agreement with two incubates: M/s One Stop Digital Agrisolutions Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Rajyog Agro. These agreements aimed to foster innovation and promote technological advancements in the grape processing industry.
