ICAR- National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources, Bengaluru celebrates 31st Foundation Day

The 31st Foundation Day of ICAR- National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources, Bengaluru was inaugurated by Km. Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare here today. On this occasion, a Biocontrol Expo 2023 was also organised.

The Minister emphasized the necessity of training both Central and State Government agricultural and horticultural officers in the multiplication of beneficial insects, with the goal of imparting these skills to farmers. She also stressed the significance of biological control agents in natural and organic farming, which can contribute to the production of pesticide-free food.

Km. Karandlaje also awarded progressive farmers and distributed agricultural inputs to two hundred farmers under SCSP programme.

Dr. Suresha S. V, Vice-Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru advocated the utilization of ICAR-NBAIR's technologies and facilities in the production of beneficial insects across all Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) for the benefit of farmers.

Dr. S. C. Dubey, Assistant Director General (PP & BS), ICAR; Dr. P. K. Singh, Agriculture Commissioner, Government of India; Dr. J. P. Singh, Plant Protection Advisor, Government of India and Dr. Dnyaneshwar Waghoure Agricultural Microorganisms Manufacturers and Farmers Association raced the occasion.

Earlier, Dr. S. N. Sushil, Director, ICAR-NBAIR, delivered the welcome address.

The Biocontrol Expo-2023 showcased a total of thirty-six stalls, featuring products and technologies from various industries and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). The Expo drew visitors from four districts in Karnataka: Hadonahalli, Chintamani, Mandya, and Chikkaballapur.
