ICAR -IIRR organises Industry Interaction Meet 2003

An Industry-Interaction Meet was successfully organized by ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Rajendranagar today.

for the all the stakeholders to witness was appreciated.

The Chief Guest, Dr. D K Yadava, Assistant Director General (Seeds), ICAR briefed the strengths of ICAR owing to its organizational capability, network and the array of research and development activities dealt on different crops. He elaborated upon the ICAR’s technology commercialization mission and its readiness for ease of doing business with private stakeholders. He reiterated that it is high time for both the public and private sectors to forge meaningful research partnerships and technology commercialisation

Dr R M Sundaram, Director ICAR-IIRR in his welcome address listed out the achievements of the institute and its mission to commercialize its innovative products from the various research programs for the benefit of the farmers.

Dr B C Viraktamath, Expert from private industry in his talk on expectations of the private sector, appreciated the research achievements of the institute and for always being the pioneer in rice research and taking up research on genome editing, false smut and brown spot. The special efforts put forth by Team IIRR to showcase performance of its technologies in the field.

Drs AVSR Swamy, Brajendra and RM Kumar presented on varietal technologies, Non-varietal technologies and CSR funding opportunities respectively for the benefit of the private stakeholders.

More than 50 participants from seed companies, input industry, aspiring entrepreneurs and start-ups registered for the Industry Meet and contributed to the successful completion of the event.

The programme commenced with field visit to witness the display of products developed through the application of frontline sciences like genomics, gene-editing and latest technologies like high yielding, climate resilient, nutritious rice lines, rice hybrids, screening facilities for false smut and brown spot in the Institute’s farm.

An exhibition was arranged during the event to display varietal, hybrid technologies, crop production and protection technologies like AI-based, rapid, automated soil testing device, automatic irrigated water management systems, and innovative rice-based products that are ready for commercialization.

The meeting also discussed the services and facilities that the Institute can share and offer to the Industry to support its R&D activities.
