ICAR-IIOR Celebrates World Pulses Day

ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad celebrated World Pulses Day on the theme "Pulses: Nourishing Soils and People" in Gurudhotla village, Vikarabad district, Hyderabad today.

Dr. R.K Mathur, Director, ICAR-IIOR presided over the event.

The programme highlighted the role of pulses in soil enrichment and long-term sustenance, focusing on reducing negative externalities and promoting production management practices in the cropping system. Farmers were made aware of the health benefits of pulse consumption for humans, livestock, small bovines, and poultry. Women farmers involved in value addition were celebrated, motivating them to increase production scale and realize higher net income.

About 295 farmers from the adopted Villages under the Farmers FIRST Programme and the neighboring villages participated in the meeting.
