ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), a leading research institution in India’s fisheries sector, marked its 68th Foundation Day today. The event featured an Open House, providing an opportunity for fishers, entrepreneurs, students, industry representatives, extension personnel, scholars, and the public to engage with the institute.

The Foundation Day event was inaugurated by Shri Gurkaran Singh Bains, IRS, Commissioner of Customs, Kochi.
Dr. George Ninan, Director, ICAR-CIFT, presided over the function, along with Dr. Grinson George, Director, ICAR-CMFRI, and Prof. Mohamed Hatha Abdulla, Director, Department of Marine Biology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry at CUSAT.

Visitors toured the Institute's divisions, interacted with scientists, and learned about the innovative technologies developed to advance the fisheries sector in India.
This celebration marked nearly seven decades of excellence in fisheries research and technology development at ICAR-CIFT.
