The ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the M/s W.S. Telematics Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi today.
Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA, Chennai highlighted the importance of Water Quality Kit in rapid measurement of the water quality parameters and immediate decision making at the farm level. Dr. Jithendran stressed on the need of continued research in fine-tuning the technology. The Director also applauded Shri Wazir Singh Dahiya and Harsha Dahiya, Directors, M/s W.S. Telematics Pvt. Ltd. for recognizing the potential of the Institute in R&D backstopping in the Brackishwater Aquaculture.
The MoU was aimed at marketing of the ICAR-CIBA-Multiparameter Water Quality Kit.
The Kit is beneficial for the on-farm assessment of water quality parameters like pH, dissolved oxygen, carbonate, bicarbonate, total alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, total hardness, total ammonia-N and nitrite-N. It is also helpful in taking the appropriate management decisions immediately for reducing the abiotic stress. In the present situation of COVID-19 Pandemic, it has an added advantage of monitoring the water quality parameters regularly when the laboratories are non-functional.
