ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa organized one-day Training-cum- Demonstration on “Scientific Pig Farming” under Tribal Sub Plan of AICRP on Pig.
Dr Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, highlighted the importance of scientific pig farming that can be economical to farmers by adopting the low-cost package of practices. He emphasized the farmers should take proper managemental practices to reduce mortality through preventive health measures and proper shelter management against heat stress.
A hands-on demonstration was held on the selection of superior germplasm for breeding, routine farm management, preparation and storage of feed, care of farrowing sows and piglets, deworming, and vaccination.
About 14 participants attended the training session.
