ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, participated in the ‘Breed Registration Certificate Distribution Ceremony’ organized by ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal, at the National Agricultural Science Complex, today.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR).
Dr Abhijit Mitra, Commissioner, Animal Husbandry; Dr Raghavendra Bhatta, Deputy Director General (Animal Science) ICAR; Dr Triveni Dutt, Director, ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly; and Dr A.K. Mishra, Director, ICAR-NBAGR, Karnal, also graced the occasion.
During the ceremony, Dr Udharwar Sanjaykumar Vithalrao, SMS (Animal Science) ICAR-KVK, North Goa, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, was awarded the Animal Breed Registration Certificate for the official recognition of Goa’s indigenous cattle breed, Shweta Kapila. The breed was registered by the Breed Registration Committee of ICAR under the accession number: INDIA CATTLE_3500_SHWETAKAPILA_03048.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for the preservation and recognition of indigenous livestock breeds in India, with Goa's Shweta Kapila Breed officially documented in the National Animal Genetic Resources database
