Hon’ble Vice-President of India Visits ICAR-CCARI, Goa

The Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, accompanied by Dr. (Smt.) Sudesh Dhankhar, visited the ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, for an interaction programme with scientists and farmers.

The dignitaries inaugurated the event by planting coconut saplings under the national campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” a symbolic gesture honoring motherhood and promoting environmental consciousness.

During the visit, the Vice-President toured a technology and product exhibition organized by ICAR-CCARI and its Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), featuring innovative research, technologies, and value-added products developed by the Institute and local farmers.

In his address, Shri Dhankhar lauded the government’s farmer-centric initiatives under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. He emphasized the role of farmers in securing national food security and encouraged them to embrace entrepreneurship through processing, packaging, and marketing. Highlighting the benefits of natural farming, he underscored its significance for sustainable agriculture.

Commending the institute’s efforts, the Vice-President interacted with scientists and farmers, recognizing their contributions to advancing coastal agriculture.

Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, briefed the Vice-President on the Institute’s multidisciplinary research and extension activities aligned with national priorities.

The event also saw the participation of Shri Rajesh Faldessai, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Government of Goa; Padma Shri awardee farmer Shri Sanjay Anant Patil; the District Collector of North Goa; along with a large gathering of farmers, scientists, and institute staff.
